Will Bali Remove Quarantine?

February 18, 2022

The answer to the billion Indonesian Rupiah Question “Will Bali Remove Quarantine?” is…YES!

Warm-up Vacation

Officially it’s not even a called a quarantine anymore but a “warm-up vacation“. You have to admire the creativity here! It’s actually a pretty neat idea, specially if you come from Europe or US and have been travelling for 20 hours +…Since February 4 2022 international travellers to Indonesia (on any valid visa) can land in Bali and Warm Up there, and yes, it’s warm here these days.

Requirements

First you need to get a plane ticket arriving from abroad to Bali. So far the only option is Singapore Airlines, it could be worse, with 2 daily rotations ACTUALLY HAPPENING everyday. The first one (SQ938) landed on Feb 16.

  • SQ938 is the morning flight (connecting with most European flights) Departing 09.05 and landing 11.50
  • SQ944 is the afternoon flight Departing 16.20 and landing 19.05

Qatar, Jetstar and Emirates all have announced that they will resume flying to DPS airport in March or April, they even start selling plane tickets but Qatar and Emirates have been doing that since July 2020!

Depending on your vaccinal status you will need to Warm Up between 2 nights (3 days) and 7 nights (8 days). As always the best way to find out which hoops you need to jump through to get the Island Vacay you all have been dreaming of for over 2 years now is to check the aptly named website Welcome Back To Bali. It’s updated daily and their Infographic is very complete and still readable. Here below is today’s update (Feb 18)

Bubble Quarantine

To sum it up, if you have had 3 jabs of “the” vaccine, you go straight to your quarantine (sorry I meant warm-up) hotel, do a PCR, check-in, and if you choose a bubble hotel you can even go to the beach, the pool and the restaurant. Yes, you read that correctly, you can do your warm-up (until it’s removed) in a bubble quarantine hotel. Not to be confused with bubble rooms (there used to be one in Kuta, if I remember correctly)

Then after a good night sleep in a plush bed you’ll be able to repeat the previous day’s activities including a PCR. If all goes well, after a second night, you’ll be able to check-out and do whatever you came to Bali to do! It’s all still here. A few places as you imagine have closed down. A few new ones have opened-up. If you stay in a villa, the Manager will for sure have a selection ready for you.

Will Bali reopen to international tourists in 2022?

We surely hope so! The end of the year, with its welcomed mane of Indonesian visitors, is done and gone. January 2022 saw Bali slip back to peace and quiet, apart from a few epic rainstorms. February is now on
